Accommodating Christ

Called to Abide“Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’” James 4:15 (NIV)

Chapter         (NIV)

Audio              (2:25)

After we become a Christ follower, we can either incorporate our faith as a component of our life…or we can radically change our life and place Christ at the center.

Those who choose the first option are merely adding a new dimension to their life. This new dimension is going to church on Sunday and perhaps a small group or Bible study during the week. Their life may change in certain ways so that it is “cleaned up”, but the basic orientation of their life is unchanged.

Their life is oriented around their own goals and desires.

These are self-controlled Christians.

Then there are those who come to faith in Jesus and recognize that their lives need to be under the control of Christ. They not only “clean up” portions of their life… they surrender their lives.

This is radically different.

Prayer: Lord help me see the difference between accommodating my life to You and surrendering my life to You.
