Sharing the truth

Truth“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”      James 1:18 (NIV)

Chapter         (NIV)

Audio              (3:26)

Part of being a steward of truth is our role in passing truth onto the next generation. In addition to our children this includes those who follow us professionally. There is great need for those of us who have walked with the Lord for many years to take the time to mentor those who are younger in the Lord, especially those who are entering the healthcare field.

The only people who can mentor young physicians with the truth are those who have diligently sought the truth as they have practiced medicine. Those of us who have been mentored know how integral that mentoring was in helping us discover truth.

If you are just starting out in medicine, seek out a mentor who is willing to give of their time to come alongside you and share the truths they have learned. What they have to share with you is precious, so guard that time and don’t allow it to be overtaken by other things.

And if you are someone who has walked with the Lord for some time in medicine, be willing to take the time to share those truths with those who come behind you. Who knows…they may even teach you a thing or two!

Prayer: Lord, lead me to the mentoring relationship You have planned for me.
